Overall SOL Score-9
Thanks for the assignment.. It helps in performing analysis independent on anyone.
But I have some questions where it choked me.
1. Type: the Sol coin is a token but I don’t know how to get its rating since its not listed on cryptoratingcouncil.
2. Supply: the token has 55% supply ratio of 276M out of 498M … Does it mean the remaining ones are locked up by developers?
3. Allocation & distribution: it think its premind since 45% of the coin is still not in circulation… If wrong please explain.
4. Emission:is good
Inflation: Sol token increases with time
Vesting: the whitepapper doesn’t contain the vesting graph… How else do I check for it?
5. project use: for exchange
6. Utility: exchange
7. Governance: it is decentralized
8. Team: good
9. Community: 348k followers on Twitter which is somewhat good
10. Marketing and Brand: good also.
I’ll rate it 8%
Please correct me on laces I’m wrong and how to do it properly.. Thanks
Nice try. We’ll come back to SOL later. For now, I want everyone to try the analysis first.

RATING: 7/10
It’s a 50/50 chance
Given the extent that networking effects have on crypto, SOLANA, though with promising future and a proof- of- History system will still find it hard going up against ethereum especially if ethereum can migrate to the PROOF-OF-STAKING early enough.
Metric #1 – Type: Solana (SOL) is a token. According to Kraken’s listing of Solana in June 17 2021, SOL is now considered a securiteis to be invested on in USA, Canada and Australia.
SCORE: 1
Metric #2 – Supply: This token has no max supply but a total supply of 494,519,162. Its circulating supply is 272,637,427.58 SOL. Thus, the market capitalizaion (MC) of SOL is $9,532,878,920 ($34.92 * 272,637,427.58). SOL fully diluted market capilization (FDMC) is $17,282,534,593 (494,519,162*34.84). From this, it is clear that there is a big difference between the MC and FDMC. Therefore, this is not good store of value for now.
SCORE: 0
Metric #3 – Allocation & Distribution: This crypto pre-mined because it is a token. From the analysis, the total supply (494,519,162) is more than the circulating supply (272,637,427.58). This is a pointer that there is a risk involved in the investment of SOL. There are some few individuals that are holding on to the 272,637,427.58 SOL.
SCORE: 0
Metric #4 – Emission, Inflation & Vesting: The Solan ICO that took place in March this year via CoinList showed that the demand of SOL did not out weights its supply.
Thus the emission SCORE: 0
It was reported at Reddit that Solana had inflationary issuance schedule starting out at 8% for the first year and decreasing by 15% until it reaches 1.5% after around 11 years, from which point on it will remain constant. Inflated SOL supply is distributed to those staking (95%) with a small portion going into a treasury to fund development of the Solana ecosystem (5%).
SCORE: 1
The vesting schedule for Solana is quite aggressive. While Team funds will be slowly released over the course of two years, between January 1st and January 7th 2021, all other SOL tokens will be in circulation.
SCORE:1
Metric #5 – Project Real World Use: Solana crypto built apps that scale on its blockchain.
SCORE: 1
Metric #6 – Utility: Solana can be used for small contract.
Metric #7- Governance: Solana is fully decentralized. Although Solana Foundation, a Swiss non-profit organization, owns Solana’s IP, it allows community developers to contribute and provide input on proposed protocol updates.
SCORE: 1
Metric #8 – Team: Solana has 6 current employee profiles, including Operations Consultant to Solana Foundation and Solana Labs Jeffrey Levy, Anatoly Yakovenko
Founder and CEO, Greg Fitzgerald Co-founder and CTO,
SCORE: 1
Metric #9 – Community: It has moderately large community of about 351,038 followers in twitter.
SCORE: 1
Metric #10 – Marketing and Branding: Solana has a powerful brand to build Crypto Apps that Scale.
SCORE: 1
In general, the overall score for SOL crypto is 8. Therefore solana is a good investment.
Great research!
This is what I expect.
Only thing to point out on metric 3, is that SOL is actually a coin, not a token. But your score is still ok, because of the wide disparity btw circulating supply and max supply.
Mr Yinka Tanimowo, you are confirmed a CRYPTO ANALYST
Thank you sir.
Solana creates new technology that enables users to have smart contracts, speedy transactions, and security at the enterprise level. Solana was introduced in 2017, and since then, it has experienced tremendous growth. Solana has a native token called SOL coin that belongs to its blockchain.
Metric 1: Type – Solana is a coin – coins are seen as virtual currencies and that is what Solana is. –score -1
Metric 2 : Supply – Circulating supply – 272,637,428 SOL, Coin Price – $34.26. Max supply of 489 Million. Fully Diluted
MC – 34.26 * 272637428 = 9,340,558,283.28; FDMC – 34.26*489,000,000 = 16,753,140,000 – score – 1
Metric 3: Allocation and Distribution – It is a pre-mined model – it is one that was created before it was open to the public. – score – 0
Metric 4: Emission, Inflation and Vesting –
Emission – Since the coinmarketcap has no max supply, so it has no limit and therefore a small emission will continue forever.
Inflation – Through an on-chain governance process, Solana’s community of validators voted to enable staking rewards and inflation, which are now live. … Solana’s initial inflation rate is 8% annually, decreasing by 15% year-over-year, reaching a long-term fixed inflation rate of 1.5% annually.
Vesting – Requirements
• Simple vesting contract (SVC) that allows you to deposit X SPL tokens that are unlocked to a specified public key at a certain block height/ slot.
• Unlocking works by pushing a permissionless crank on the contract that moves the tokens to the pre-specified address
• Token Address should be derived from https://spl.solana.com/associated-token-account
• ‘Vesting Schedule contract’ – A contract containing an array of the SVC’s that can be used to develop arbitrary vesting schedules.
• Tooling to easily setup vesting schedule contracts
• Recipient address should be modifiable by the owner of the current recipient key
• Implementation should be a rust spl compatible program, plus client side javascript bindings that include a CLI interface. Rust program should be unit tested and fuzzed.
Metric 5: Project Real World Use – Solana is known for its high-performance blockchain which can support 50,000+ TPS without sharding and the many innovations that are created on it. A multitude of tools has already been built as part of the Solana ecosystem. With its partner and characteristics, Solana offers a very attractive value proposition for Decentralized Finance (DeFi) apps. Solana has made immense progress towards interoperability and is already connected to the Ethereum ecosystem. For example Wormhole bridge allows users to transfer value between Ethereum and Solana, turning ERC-20 tokens into Solana’s corresponding SPL standard.. – score – 1
Metric 6: Utility – Solana is a highly functional open source project that banks on blockchain technology’s permissionless nature to provide decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. … It aims to improve scalability by introducing a proof-of-history (PoH) consensus combined with the underlying proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus of the blockchain. – score – 1
Metric 7: Governance – It a decentralized project.
Metric 8: Team – “comprised of pioneering technologists from Qualcomm, Intel, Netscape, and Google”
According to their website (15-10-2020) some of the team members also come from Microsoft, Apple, Twitter, Dropbox, General Catalyst, Omada and Cern.
Anatoly Yakovenko; CEO “Anatoly is the creator of Solana. He led development of operating systems at Qualcomm, distributed systems at Mesosphere, and compression at Dropbox. He holds 2 patents for high performance Operating Systems protocols, was a core kernel developer for BREW which powered every CDMA flip phone (100m+ devices), and led development of tech that made Project Tango (VR/AR) possible on Qualcomm phones.” – score – 1
Metric 9: Community – Solana has a large community. The Solana community is a globally distributed home to developers, token holders, validators, and members supporting the protocol. eg. Telegram, Twitter, You tube and other group of network effect. – score – 1
Metric 10: Marketing and Branding – Solana is the fastest blockchain currently on the market processing transactions in sub-seconds. Additionally, using the Solana blockchain costs considerably less than many other competing blockchains. Solana’s average transaction cost is just $0.00001!
Solana aims to solve the ‘trilemma’ of security, scalability, and decentralization for businesses to scale with blockchain technology. The project has devised eight innovative protocols, each working seamlessly to offer a solution to the aforementioned ‘trilemma’.
According to its website, Solana is built on top of 8 building blocks, which they call ‘innovations’:
1. “Proof of History (PoH); a clock before consensus
2. Tower BFT; a PoH-optimized verson of PBFT
3. Turbine; a block propagation protocol
4. Gulf Stream; mempool-less transaction forwarding protocol
5. Sealevel; world’s first parallel smart contracts run-time
6. Pipeline; transaction processing unit for validation
7. Cloudbreak; horizontally-scaled accounts database
8. Archivers; distributed ledger storage”
Therefore, I will score Solana crypto currency 9 and thereby a place to invest on.
Very detailed research.
I am proud to confirm you -Pastor Emmanuel, as a Crypto Analyst. Welldone
Type – 1 –
Coin with a prospective use case
Supply – 0 –
No maximum supply, and there is wide disparity between the circulating supply and the total
supply
Allocation & Distribution – 0
less than 40% available for the community. If there was half point, I would have given it here, since the remaining 60% are not just in the hands of a few, but a wider range of audience
Emission, Inflation, Vesting – 0
Another possible halve, upside is that coin transaction fees are burnt, downside, the gap in
circulating and total supply gap, not so sure the burning will make up for that gap
Project Real World Use – 1
Swift execution of multiple transactions
Utility – 1 – Payments and support for smart contracts
Governance – 1 – Decisions are reached via voting
Team – 1 Team is too credible, software engineers from dropbox, Qualcom etc.. trackable on social media handles such as linkedin, and github
Community – 1 Already dominant in Asia and gradually cutting across Europe
Marketing & Branding – 1 Ran by a team, this is a strength
Aggregate 8/10
